    Was that Bjork music?

I guess Björk is good for woodworking, björk = birch 🙂

I saw your design and googled images of 'Roman stool'. It's a pretty thing, but so delicate looking – I would worry about splits. Nice Bjork track.

How come I can't view the video on my iPad? It says the author does not allow playback on this device?

@fvschie haha! Yeah, I know Bjork isn't for everyone, but I adore her. I saw her in concert twice. She's like an evil little pixie flitting about on stage. Thanks for your chair comments though!

And by style being wrong, I don't mean your chair, I mean my classification. Anyway, looks like a winner to me!

Had to mute the video I'm afraid. Bjork makes me break out in hives. I *hate* her music. Because of me, my workplace enforces a strict no-Bjork rule. If I'm distracted and annoyed at the music, even if I don't fully recognize who it is, I can usually guess that it's her. Similar music from non-Bjorks is poorly tolerated, but somehow not as aggravating.

That said, excellent miniature chair! For some reason, makes me think of Louis XIV, though the style is apparently wrong.

Lovely job Steve – what stops the cell-phone falling off though?

I would have said it was a stool rather than a chair but then I'm English!!!

You will let us know whether or not you win another ribbon, won't you? If you don't, please introduce us to the peson who wins. Anhone with enough talent to outclass that chair certainly deserves the world wide acclaim their presence in your videos would surely generate.

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

Steve I like the design, but if the contest is supposed to b a chair. Then your chair needs a back rest to be considered chair. If it doesn't then it's considered a stool. Those are two different categories. Just an FYI. 🙂

@Norbury53 Yeah, just set up your fence on the table saw and run the board on its edge. You might want to use a feather board to keep it firm against the fence.

@stevinmarin Great video. I like your silly videos but its good to see a good old fashion woodworking video.
    Great job on the chairs.

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

that is a neat chair….sort of makes me want to build a full sized one. I think I have seen one similiar somewhere but at my age…I just can't remember where.

can you please make a full size version of your "chair from hell" please 🙂

  42. Norbury53

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

@stevinmarin Thanks, for the prompt reply Steve, it is much appreciated. Did you just do the cut with the board up against the fence? No problems with kick back etc? (I know – I'm paranoid).

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

@mersyturning I just have it sitting there. That's one of the things I'm worried about. I hope the fair people will set it up right. I can't think of a way to mount it/

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

@psychodelicdragon It's actually a stupid story. When I set up my YouTube account, I decided on "Steve in Marin". Strangely, I left out the second "e" of my name, but decided to keep it!

    October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am

@Norbury53 Yes, the board was actually too wide to resaw my bandsaw. What I did was resaw each side on my table saw as far as the blade would reach. Then I finished the cut with a handsaw. It's actually a great technique, because the table saw cuts keep you aligned for the handsaw cut.
