How about a link to the camping stove you used as a center burner?

You can buy off Ebay, really quite cheap, those big rings road menders use to melt buckets of tar. Get a small one and run it off a big cylinder of propane.

You can never be a former engineer. Once an engineer, always an engineer.

Hi Alex – is it possible to hook up that camping burner to a MAPP gas bottle? Those burn good and hot. They come in bigger bottles too, might last longer.

Someone should make a portable wok stove like this commercially. I'm sure it would sell very well.

    Good Day Parisian Guy,
How about building a proper Wok station, it’s less complicated and more safe than your awesome contraption which I think is a little dodgy

If someone would produce that commercially for two of these small standard gas cartridges and fittings for a mid-sized round wok, I would buy it.

Propane instead of Butane (the bastard fuel). This wok range is Hank Hill approved.

Hey Alex, amazing video. How much did the whole thing cost ?

  37. Mark W

    October 7, 2018 at 9:50 am

Best improvement would be just to buy an outdoor burner that has the high output. You need big tanks and not the small cannisters to make my people's food. But the DIY hack aspect was cool I must admit.

Since you are an Engineer I feel obligated to correct the unit you are using for wok-power. I'm guessing that it should be BTU/hr approximately 14.2kW. Did you ever try to weight the gas containers and recalculate the thermal power?
