This video series will have a little more information and explanation than our typical project videos. Let me know what you think and if you want to see more of these Metal Working for Beginners videos. My plan is to showcase simple projects that rely on one or two metal working techniques and that don’t require welding. I am considering an angle grinder which costs about $40 as a basic and accessible power tool but I want to hear your opinions on what constitutes accessible and affordable.

The 2nd idea with the brass is genius and looks really expensive! I like expensive looking things that are actually cheap! 🙂 Ben, thanks so much for starting this metal working series! Really inspiring. This will certainly raise the world wide demand for metal brackets! Did you by any chance buy some stocks beforehand? Admit it! 😉 Keep it up! One of my favorite channels!

So, to clarify, after using the countersink bit, you would recommend using the One Wipe Charlie for cleaning your brass hole?

Came out looking really nice. The look of the finished project here might just be enough to push me toward incorporating metal into some of my ideas. Thanks!

could you do one on a platform bed with drawers underneath? they're so expensive to buy I feel like I could build one for a lot cheaper if I knew how

Grinder is definitely the next hand-held power tool I buy. Thanks for sharing!

Love the design. Also I've been waiting for either you or Mike or any of the other modern makers on youtube to create a folding wood/plywood chair that can be wall hung and be completely minimal, like 1 1/2" depth when folded. I guess if no one does it, I'll just design my own. haha.

"You don't need any specialty tools…" Pulls out grinder… So?

That's awesome! Definitely makes metal less intimidating, especially for those who have almost never worked with it (like me). Any tips for designing metal brackets like that? I noticed one angle matched the leg and the other was opposing.

This series is amazing, I wanted to work with metal but always thought I need it a welding machine! Thanks!

Making a freehand hole with a Stepped Drill bit into Brass gives me flashbacks. For precise diameters i would only use it on a drillpress.

I have a Ryobi Angle Grinder I bought 2 years ago. Still haven't used it…. maybe its time!

Love the design of the bench. I have been thinking about trying simple metal work. Might have to try something like this as a good starter project. 🙂

That’s a great combination of wood and steel – and also a nice integrated way to present your sponsor. I would imagine that round head bolts instead of the screws could also look nice and give the piece a bit more of an industrial look.

Great Project! First thing I always do is "adjust" the guard right off the angle grinder. Is that too redneck? 🙂

Love it, very sweet design. I had no idea those angle pieces come in brass. I may have to pick up some and think of a project for it!

I like the talkie intro. A little more Ben personality. I dig this look, a clean simple project. I like the brass look a ton. Nice work Nate.
