    The finish of your projects is always kind of lackluster though. Spend some more time making stuff look good rather than just have a good basic design.

    Many years ago when I was a kid there was shelf on the market that looked this however for me personally it was simpler. For it the Dowels would be cut to length to fit in between the Shelves then each Dowel has roughly a 1/4 hole drilled into them, and each shelf also a small hole drilled then heres the interesting part with the dowels, you can either insert threaded rods so you can screw the rods with the shelfs bases between each layer or you can put small dowel rods. Now the original flatpack one was never glued however I would use wood glue or epoxy to hold on together. With the version you did I would still use small brad nail to nail each shelf to the dowel road, because you could still place something on it might make the shelf fall straight down.
