    can you plug more than one led directly into the aurdino?

    what are the specs of the led?

    You need a 220 Ohm resistor connected to x pin and ground.

    shouldn't plug a LED without a current limiter resistor. You surely damage the LED and probably the microcontroller port as well.

    So I could use a raspberry pi to program an Arduino since its linux?

    I cant seem to find that model of proto shield, is it the one I have to put together?

    I believe it is the USB drivers and the Arduino IDE, not really sure though 🙂

    a closed-off sort of bsd base, but not linux by many means.

    hey idiots, we could argue all day, mac and pc are both good depending on what you need them for and what you were raised on. now shut up and get linux.

    The question remains. Why would I want one of these rather than an Atmel Xplained board?

    fist of all, its a matter of presence. one isn't better than the other. macs are stable and fast, and PC's are actually affordable. and work.

    You promise a howto with the ethernet shield in the video 🙂 – Do you have a link to this howto?

    He explained that you can get the Arduino software from the site, which contains everything needed for the installation. I think my grandmother could follow those instructions.

    Sad. He goes into detail about the code – then when it comes to downloading the code it's all buzz words that are not explained. If you are going to do a basic tutorial please do not assume people are software engineers.

    @SniperRulez89 Too bad when you look at the schematics, you will see that the resistor has it's own ground. The resistor only works with the tiny LED on the board. (Do a google search: "arduino duemilanove schematic brittonkerin") I have burned couple arduinos because of it. As you see there's no resistor if you connect pin 13 to the ground. It works for some time, but it will eventually burn pin 13. Always use a resistor with LEDs. I say it's better to be safe than sorry.

    :-J It's not a 'void loop', it a function named 'loop' that returns a 'void' result when it is called via the code and it would have been nice to know what the values of the 'constants' high/ low are set to

    @makemagazine Well… That's going to burn the Arduino's output… Use a resistor.
