This was the first project I saw when I came into the Denver Maker Faire and it was the most impressive thing I saw all day. The hacking of the wheelchair CAN bus was a real close second.

its compact. But i think due to the complex motion the process is longer and will require higher degree of accuracy as compared to a linear assembly line. But the engineering used here can be employed for compact in-situ production of specific parts.

I would have expected some old ass Siemens PLC to run that rig. Amazing what you can do with Arduino's and a bunch of Bus expanders. The pneumatics looks hella professional, he's had time to make this pretty, which I can really appreciate.

Good on ya Ethan, you'll go places!

That's a very impressive machine, and I have no doubt Ethan has a genius-level brain, but… One question: at 2:45, when he says he recycled parts from "other machines we had lying around," what's he talking about? Do his parents own a factory or industrial automation company? You've got to wonder when he said two parts were from a machine that made syringes before its contract ran out. Having easy access to very expensive parts and people who know how to use them tends to simplify a project like this.

Very cool, but what did he make it for? Does he sell these massage rollers or something?

great job! especially with re-purposing machinery parts to do a new function. regardless of having help or not, he has more knowledge now than before the project. keep up the hard work and always recycle !
